USC's Mario
Danelo Found dead
January 7th, 2007 - The body of University of Southern
California football player Mario Danelo has been found
about 120 feet down a rocky cliff, a police spokeswoman
said on Sunday. The body of Danelo, 21, was found on
Saturday afternoon near a lighthouse in San Pedro,
overlooking the Los Angeles Harbor. Authorities have not
yet determined a cause of death for the college kicker
who made two field goals in his school's 32-18 Rose Bowl
victory over the University of Michigan last week. "The
investigation is continuing," said Los Angeles Police
Department officer Norma Eisenman. "Right now it is
ruled as an undetermined death." Danelo, the son of
former NFL kicker Joe Danelo, made 15 of 16 field goals
this season and led the team in scoring. He is a junior.
Danelo's death comes about a week after Denver Broncos
football player Darrent Williams was killed in a
drive-by shooting while riding in a limousine in
downtown Denver. (San Francisco -Reuters)
